Elvis Presley's first motion picture, in glorious black-and-white, debuted in theaters this very day in 1956. The original working title was "The Reno Brothers," but it was changed to Love Me Tender to better promote one of the songs in the film. Elvis' mother, Gladys, was understandably upset by the film because Elvis' character dies at the end. See the original trailer for the film below.
