There are a couple of very special fundraisers involving food and drink this week and in both cases you’ll support great causes while having a good time and eating well:

The Toms River Country Club on Washington Street is the setting once again for Community Medical Center Foundation’s 12th Annual Red, White & Brew Wednesday night from 5:30-8:30 p.m.  Designed as both a way to kick off the summer and benefit the J. Phillip Citta Regional Cancer Center at Community Medical Center, the tasting event features food samplings from many area chefs and restaurants including Artisan’s, Chef Mike’s ABG, Capone’s, Klee’s, Luigi’s Deli, The Office Restaurant & Lounge, Ohana Grill, Social 37, Stone Fire Grill, Toms River Country Club and others.

There will also be wine and beer tastings from Francis Ford Coppola Winery, Beach Haus Brewery, Boston Beer Company, Constellation Wines, Delicato Wines, Gallo Wines, Icarus Brewing, Rinn Duin Brewing and more. There will be a silent auction and 50/50 drawing as well and tickets are $75 and can be purchased at the country club tomorrow night.

The 11 previous wine tasting events have raised some $800,000 for the cancer center which is named after Phil Citta, who died in 2004 and is probably best known as the owner of The Office Restaurant & Lounge.  To many this is one of those dates you circle on the calendar and make sure nothing gets in the way of attending.

This Sunday the JBJ Soul Kitchen will host a Sunday Dinner with Joe Leone at their Hooper Avenue location in Toms River.  The Soul Kitchen is a for-purpose community restaurant designed to bring people together to share a meal and support the local community and serves paying and in-need customers.

It is run by the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation and open various hours Wednesday-Sunday.  Joe Leone, a well-known chef, culinary icon and entrepreneur will be preparing his version of Sunday Dinner from antipasti to desert on Sunday with two seatings at 2pm and 6pm.  Each one is limited to 40 guests so reserve your spot quickly by calling 732-731-1414.  Tickets are $100 and of course you will be supporting the JBJ Soul Kitchen in Toms River.  For more visit jbjsoulkitchen.org.

Eat well while helping two great community causes!
