Who let the dogs out? And why are they going at each other?

Those were the questions on the minds of Manchester police who answered a call about a disturbance in a Summit Park home Wednesday - but the ones that arose once they entered landed someone inside behind bars.

According to police, Officers Stephen Hankins and Patrick Morgan and Sergeant Richard Mazza arrived to find several canines acting aggressively toward each other. Then they found Bowen Stephenson, 22, in a bedroom.

They determined that Stephenson had given them false information in order to avoid arrest in connection with a no-bail warrant obtained by the Ocean County Sheriff's Office, police said.

In an ensuing search, the officers confiscated 117 bags of heroin, crack cocaine, a syringe and drug-related items, police said.

Stephenson was charged with five drug-related counts and hindering apprehenion, and placed in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River in lieu of $20,000 bail.
