Dad of woman allegedly attacked by Rutgers’ Carroo: Protect my daughter

The father of the woman police say was slammed into the concrete by Rutgers football captain Leonte Carroo wants the university to provide protection for his daughter.

The woman, who is not being identified as she is considered to be the victim of domestic violence, continues to live on campus over the objections of her family, reports NJ.com.

"I even asked the question out loud to the (police) officers — what would you do as a dad?" her father reportedly said.

She has quit her job with the athletic department according to NorthJersey.com, and taken out a restraining order against Carroo.

Her father told NJ.com his daughter did not start the incident with another woman that Rutgers Police say provoked Carroo.

Rutgers University Police Captain Kenneth Cop had said in a statement that Carroo, 21,  was arrested by the Rutgers University Police Department and charged with simple assault under domestic violence.

In the incident Saturday, the 6-foot-1, 215 pound wide receiver from Edison is accused of “picking her up and slamming her down on a concrete surface, injuring her left hip, both palms, left elbow and left side of the head,” according to a complaint filed with Piscataway Municipal Court.

Carroo has pleaded not guilty and been released on $1,000 bail. He due in court on Oct. 1, and remains on indefinite suspension from the football team.
