An unidentified adviser to the presumptive Republican candidate for president told US News Trump has narrowed his search to Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, former House speaker Newt Gingrich and retired lieutenant general Michael Flynn. The final decision could be announced later this week.

Christie spoke for eight minutes at a campaign event in Virginia before Trump took the stage and called him the candidate "who puts the safety and security of our citizens first, and does not blink or hesitate to take the strong action that needs to be taken to make sure that those both at home and around the world know that lawlessness will not be tolerated from anyone," according to the New York Times.

The Republican National Convention opens in Cleveland on Monday.
