Victoria Geremonte, 43, was sentenced on her guilty plea to a second-degree theft charge and ordered to pay restitution amounting to $393,162.80, according to information from Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato's office.

Geremonte admitted diverting 381 checks intended for Certified Environmental Contractors, LLC, of Lakewood into an account she controlled that was identified as Certified Environmental Tank Technology.

The company specializes in the removal old oil tanks.

The diversions ended, investigators said, in June 2012.
