Bobby Fuller was born in Texas this day in 1943, and was influenced by the music of Buddy Holly, covering several Holly songs including "Love's Made a Fool of You." Fuller's biggest hit, "I Fought the Law" originally came out on a tiny record label called Exeter, but became a hit on the larger Mustang label. Fuller's brilliant recording career was cut short very early, and his bizarre and unexplained demise became an absorbing episode of Robert Stack's Unsolved Mysteries years later.
