44-year-old Thomas Murphy of Bayville entered the guilty plea in Ocean County Superior Court Monday, according to the Asbury Park Press.

In exchange for pleading guilty to assault, prosecutors will recommend probation for Murphy. He can also apply to the Pretrial Intervention Program for first-time offenders. The matter is scheduled for review on January 6th.

Murphy was coaching a game on May 2nd involving 10, 11 and 12 year-old players. Murphy allegedly aggressively approached the umpire during a dispute over a call and was ejected from the game. He was suspended indefinitely from the league and barred from ever returning to the complex and all Little League functions.
