Nothing will ever match the build-up and excitement surrounding the first All Star football game in the summer of 1978 in which a group of recent Ocean County high school graduates beat their contemporaries from Monmouth County 21-7. It was then called the Asbury Park Press All Shore Classic and the inaugural game drew over 8,000 fans at Wall Stadium which was not the ideal location.
I think we can all agree that many so-called celebrities have inflated opinions of themselves and that really comes out during election season. Why would anyone care what a musician, actor, comedian or even pro athlete says when it comes to their thoughts on who we should elect?
If you have a void in your life without football then may I suggest you head to Seaside Heights tomorrow for Pros Vs. Heroes, a flag football game on the beach just north of Casino Pier matching members of the Toms River Police Department against a Pro Elite team made up of former NFL players, WWE wrestlers and MMA Fighters including team captain Frankie “The Answer” Edgar.

I’ve always loved to play miniature golf and without question my favorite course was Smuggler’s Quay Adventure Golf which was located on Central Avenue between Grant & Sherman in Seaside Heights. The official grand opening of the new Smuggler’s Quay is this Saturday with a Mini Golf Tournament to benefit Ocean of Love.
Brian Oehme was a pretty good basketball player at Brick Township High School, a 6’4 forward who started for three seasons, graduated last June and played for Drew University . With three of the team’s four leading scorers graduating it would appear that Oehme would have a great opportunity to contribute even more next year but there is something blocking his immediate basketball future: cancer.
