Monica Vermeulen, founder and CEO of the Ashley Lauren Foundation was honored last night by the Greater Spring Lake Chamber of Commerce as Citizen of the Year.

The award dinner took place last night at the beautiful Essex and Sussex in Spring Lake. Monica was surrounded by family, friends and local dignitaries for this special night, and I was honored to emcee the event.

Carol Stillwell was the keynote speaker. and many dignitaries, including Freeholder Tom Arnone, were among many who paid tribute to Monica's amazing work with children with cancer in New Jersey and their families.

Another great moment in the evening was when Monica was honored with some amazing words from her children Eric Vitale and Ashley Lauren Vermeulen. There was a lot of love in the room for a woman who truly deserved to be recognized.

You can learn about the Ashley Lauren story and all the great work the organization is doing by visiting the Ashley Lauren Foundation website.
