We know a little more this morning about a shooting in Asbury Park on Sunday.

Monmouth County Prosecutors have charged the now arrested 21-year old Trey Lentz of Asbury Park with first-degree attempted murder for shooting a man on Ridge Avenue Sunday afternoon around 1:00 pm.

The 24-year old victim who is also from Asbury Park, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and remains in stable condition.

Lentz is also charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Obstruction.

Asbury Park Police Officers arrived to the Ridge Avenue residence area after shots were reported fire and found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds and already in a car that was being driven to the hospital by his friends.

Officers then escorted the car to the hospital and ensured that the victim received medical attention.

Officers from the Asbury Park Police Department and Monmouth County Sherriff's Office arrested Lentz in the area of Ridge Avenue after he had climbed out of a window and was trying to get away.

He remains jailed in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.

The case is assigned to Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Matthew Bogner.

Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of the trial rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and State law.
