Air Force enlistees from Toms River, New Egypt move up military ladder

Young men from the east and west sides of Ocean County land among the latest volunteers to complete basic training in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard.

Air Force Airman Michael J. Archer and Air Force Air National Guard Airman First Class Thomas Weimmer rounded out eight intensive weeks at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in Texas.

Weimmer is a 2011 graduate of Toms River High School East. Archer, a 2014 alumnus of New Egypt High School, is the son of Jason A. and Christy M. Archer of Niantic, CT, and Stephanie M. Archer of Maineville, OH.

Each was required to meet standards for military discipline, core values, physical fitness, basic warfare principles and skills. They also earned credits toward associate degrees in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force.
