We welcome March to the Jersey Shore today, but March is not arriving quietly. We are expecting potentially powerful storms today.

Here are three things you need to know about today's weather according to our meteorologist Dan Zarrow.

High winds. This afternoon's storm could produce gusts of 40 mph, with the possibility of over 60mph wind gusts at times.

Isolated tornadoes. Dan explains that the chance is not zero today for isolated tornadoes so it is certainly worth mentioning. Better to be safe.

Heavy Rain. Torrential downpours to be exact which could making driving difficult and produce flash flooding.

Timeline. The heaviest impact from the storm for the Jersey Shore will be between 2:00pm and 7:00pm

Hail. Dan says he can't rule out the possibility of hail in areas during this event, much like Saturday where some areas got hail.

Dan has an amazingly detailed and comprehensive look at today's weather and you can check it out here.
