Happy 79th birthday to New Jersey's own CONNIE FRANCIS. She's 79 today. I had the pleasure to meet her years ago at another radio station and luckily had my camera that day (there were no cell phones then). She was born in Newark as Concetta Franconero and racked up a long series of Top Ten hits over a four-year period that included the number 1 hits "My Heart Has a Mind of Its Own," "Don't Break the Heart that Loves You" and "Everybody Somebody's Fool." However, her most fondly remembered songs are probably "Who's Sorry Now," "Stupid Cupid," "Vacation," and "Where the Boys Are." Coincidentally, two other NJ natives, Frank Sinatra and Dionne Warwick were also born on this day.
