Summer is here and school is over, but many people will not be vacationing this summer, and a recent survey tells us why.

A survey was done by AP-NORC and reported on by the Chicago Tribune, which says that 43% of those polled will not take vacation this summer, and most sat it's because it's just too expensive.

Nearly half of those polled blamed the cost on their reason for not vacationing (49%), but that obviously wasn't the only reason cited. A little over one in ten said they aren't able to get time off from work, and 3% said they just don't like being away from work.

I think that it's a slightly different dynamic here at the Jersey Shore because we actually live at a summer vacation destination. Now that's not to say doing staycation things around here aren't expensive, but at least the travel expenses are low, and you can drive home at night saving on lodging.

A staycaytion here at the Jersey Shore is really pretty awesome. It's a little easier on the budget, gives you a little time to actually relax a little and you still get to see what other people travel a lot further to get here to enjoy.
