3 Fun Things to do in Ocean County
Giving time and attention to a trio of upcoming events that are not only fun but in most cases provide valuable resources to wonderful organizations. Here they are in chronological order:
This Saturday (September 23) the Lavallette Business Association presents their third annual “Soups of the Shore” at the Chandler Ballfield from 11 a.m.-3pm. You can sample soups from local restaurants and vote for your favorites plus there will be craft and local vendors. The cost is just $10 for adults and it’s free for kids with proceeds benefiting the LBA’s scholarship fund and will help support free events put on during the summer.
On Monday (September 25) it’s the 27th Annual Vest-A-Cop at the Pizza Hut in the K-Mart Plaza on Route 37 East in Toms River. Police officers from Toms River work for tips as waiters and waitresses to raise money for the Bullet Proof Vest Fund, something needed now more than ever. This is always a great event as
Toms River’s finest put down their ticket books and put on aprons. The event runs from 4-9 p.m. and there will be more than just pizza. There’s face painting, a bounce house, dunk tank, DJ Mike West and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department will be on site providing children’s fingerprint ID cards.
Thursday, October 5 will feature a very special golf outing at Gambler’s Ridge Golf Course in Cream Ridge open to everyone as long as you love puppies. The first of what hopefully will be an annual golf tournament will support and raise funds for “A Tail to Tell” which is a puppy mill rescue group that has done great work for more than ten years.
Their goal is to rescue, rehabilitate and provide outstanding veterinary care to any dog rescued from a puppy mill. The golf outing at Gambler’s Ridge on October 5th will include not only golf and a cart but lunch and dinner and the $100 entry fee is well below what most golf fundraisers cost. For information on how to register and support this great group call John Kelshaw at 732-604-5738.
