14-year old boy suffers gruesome injury after being hit by car in Lakewood

A 14-year old boy is hospitalized Monday night after being hit by a car crossing Sunset Road of the southbound lane in Lakewood Township around 7:30 pm.

The 48-year old driver of a 2015 Cadillac told police he honked his horn repeatedly but couldn't avoid hitting the child.

The boy suffered a fractured eye socket along with minor injuries and is being treated at Jersey Shore University Medical Center for further evaluation and medical treatment.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

No charges have been announced regarding anything pending against the driver.
