JACKSON — A person was killed Friday night in a head-on car crash that also injured four others.

The crash happened before 6:41 p.m. when a 1993 Chevy 1500 pickup truck, which had been traveling north on South Hope Chapel Road, collided with a 2004 Chrysler Town and Country minivan, which police believe was turning left onto Ridgeway Boulevard.

The front-seat passenger of the minivan had to be extricated by firefighters and died after being flown to a hospital.

The minivan's driver, a 56-year-old Howell man, was flown to a hospital with serious injuries, while a backseat passenger was taken by ambulance and treated for moderate injuries.

The 31-year-old driver of the pickup was partially ejected and was flown to a hospital with serious injuries. His 14-year-old female passenger was hospitalized with moderate injuries, police said.

Police on Saturday morning did not identify any of the victims or give an age for the passenger who died.
